Playstation Identity Theft Protection Vendor Announces Even Worse Breach of their Security
"All user data held by Debix for identity theft protection was stolen. All money, too."
CAYMAN ISLANDS, May 28, 2011. After the shocking, massive loss of user data by Sony's Playstation Network and Qriocity online gaming division, the company offered free identity theft protection services and credit monitoring to its customers, from Debix Corporation, in a bid to restore confidence and retain business last week.
From there, it only went downhill.
At 10:15 am today, Debix announced a "total, catastrophic" loss of data, as well as all monies and credit owned or potentially owned by its customers, or itself.
"It all went somewhere in the Caymans," Debix CEO Kurt Logerqvist announced from his ski Chalet in Zurich. "We regret any inconvenience this might have caused our valued Debix/Qriocity/Sony Playstation customers."
In a bid to retain business and restore customer's confidence, Debix itself has now retained credit monitoring company, Credix Limited, offering identity theft protection services free-of-charge for its customers.
